🔧 How to Build the Swienty Poly Hive (Flat Pack)

Swienty flat-pack poly hives are designed for quick and simple assembly.

General guidance:

1. Lay out all hive components on a flat surface

2. Dry-fit the parts first to familiarise yourself with the layout

3. Assemble according to Swienty’s standard hive configuration

4. Use suitable exterior-grade wood glue for extra durability and strength

5. Ensure joints are tight for optimal insulation and weather protection (mallet might be handy)

6. Paint your hive to protect the polystyrene from sun (UV) damage and extend the life of the hive – use a bee-safe, breathable paint designed for poly hives

The poly components are precision-moulded, making assembly straightforward even for beginners.

🕯️ How to Wax (Embed) the Frames

The frames supplied are assembled, built and pre-wired, meaning the wires are already tensioned — you just need to embed the foundation.

You will need:

• Beeswax foundation sheets (included)

• An electric wax embedding transformer (not included)

Basic method:

1. Place the foundation sheet onto the frame

2. Position it against the wires

3. Briefly apply power using a wax embedding transformer

4. The wire heats and melts slightly into the wax

5. Allow to cool — the foundation will be firmly set
