National Hive flat pack (assembly required) made from British Cedar

This is the perfect starter beehive at great value.

Made from sustainably sourced British Cedar wood and manufactured by Thorne in the UK, showcasing British craftsmanship at its finest. One of the most sustainable and eco friendly beehive available on the UK market. As this is made from British grown cedar, there will be small knots, splits and imperfections on the wood.

This beehive is bottom bee spaced, single walled hive and is in use all over the British Isles. It is still the most popular by far, perhaps because one of the distinctive features of national beehives is the use of standard frame sizes, making it easier for beekeepers to interchange frames between hives.

This hive is for self-assembly at home and comes completely flat pack. This set does not include frames or foundation - it's empty.

This flat pack set consists of:

1 x Open Mesh Floor with varroa floor and entrance block

1 x Brood Box with metal runners and nails

1 x XP Plastic Queen Excluder

2 x National Supers, each with metal runners and nails

1 x Crownboard with 2 removable porter bee escapes

1 x 4” Roof with galvanised metal covering

Pretty good

Total novice beekeeper. Loads of videos on construction are available, in the end you might well come up with your own system as I did. The first brood box I constructed wasn't very well manufactured & so a bit of a challenge (lots of swearing) everything else was fine.
I do think drilling & screwing is easier than nails. Also, don't forget you need frames too.
