205L Food-Safe Steel Honey Storage Barrel – Open-Top Drum

A robust, cost-effective open-top steel drum designed primarily for the bulk storage of honey. Its certified food-contact internal lacquer also makes it suitable for businesses requiring a large-capacity food storage barrel for a range of other food products.

This barrel is supplied brand new and unused for food-production applications. It is manufactured in the UK using a heavier-gauge steel construction, selected to provide additional integrity when storing dense products such as honey.

Food-Contact-Safe Internal Lacquer

The inside of the barrel is coated with Axalta R78007 Gold protective lacquer.

This coating has been independently tested by Eurofins for contact with:

• Aqueous foods

• Acidic foods

• Fatty foods

• Alcoholic foods containing up to 50% alcohol

The coating was assessed for food stored at ambient temperature for periods exceeding six months. Testing found no concerning transfer of colour and no off-odours or off-flavours that would raise doubts about its suitability for food-contact applications.

The cured coating complies with Article 3 of Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 under the applied test conditions. It also complies with the requirements of US FDA 21 CFR 175.300.

Open-Top Design

Unlike a closed-head drum, the entire lid can be removed. This provides easier access when filling, inspecting or emptying the barrel, particularly when working with thick products such as honey.

The removable lid incorporates a rubber gasket to create a secure seal and is held firmly in place by the supplied metal locking ring.

Variation in the external colour does not affect the barrel’s internal food-contact coating, specification or performance.

Care and Reuse

Inspect the internal lacquer before each use. Cleaning must be carried out carefully, as abrasive tools, harsh cleaning methods or impacts could damage the coating.

Do not use the drum for food storage if the internal lacquer becomes scratched, chipped, corroded or otherwise compromised. The user is responsible for ensuring that the drum, cleaning procedure and intended contents are suitable for their particular food-production process.

These barrels are delivered by pallet freight only. Delivery is kerbside and the pallet charge is calculated separately at checkout according to the delivery postcode.
