Strong Stainless steel Claw Hive Tool

The special laser-cut, toothed edge is very effective and practical when removing heavily propolised frames from the hive.

In addition to this, the scraper and the chisel-shaped end do the same.

A high quality, Hive Tool in a traditional style made from stainless steel in Italy by Lega.

Strong stainless steel

Length: 21cm

Width chisel-end: 3.5cm

My new favourite hive tool

I'm new into beekeeping and in my second season. My initial preference was always for the traditional hive tool, but I did find the 'J' tool very useful. After a few trials with other types of tool (e.g. Thorn C6 Multi, mini, and hook type) I found that I had 2 main needs. 1: The ability to 'palm' the tool whilst using my thumb/index to hold and manipulate frames 2: ability to stow/retrieve the tool from my pocket easily and quickly. This tool ticks both needs very well. I've found many tools have a very broad central handle (which is fine if you wear size 8.5 gloves) which makes 'palming' the tool very uncomfortable. This tool's central handle area is 2-2.5cm wide and ~8cm long before it flares out to the tool ends (3.5cm chisel) which fits my hand perfectly (size 7 glove), and makes palming and manipulating the tool easy and comfortable. The ease of manipulating the tool in a single hand means stowing/retrieving the tool is a doddle. Whilst the tool edge is sharp, they are not too sharp (i.e. knife), are not fine edged, and I expect them to retain their edge for quite a while. I certainly didn't feel like they would cut me if I was searching for it. The edges of the tool (that are not the blade edge) are rounded slightly making it comfortable to keep in your palm, even whilst your hands are full with other stuff. It weighs 150g and feels solid but light, the traditional tool it is replacing is longer and wider, but only weighs 17g more. I suspect this tool is made from better steel. In the future, if I were to need more hive tools e.g. Apiary based tools, I would happily buy more of the same.

Hi, I hadn't realised that when the fondant turned up the hive tool wasn't with it. Is it on its way?

Everything I have had in the past has been great, Thanks
