Job Description - Warehouse Operative

We’re a growing honey farm and beekeeping supplies business providing a wide range of beekeeping products, and our warehouse operations are the backbone of our success.
Gwenyn Gruffydd is an incredibly passionate beekeeping company with big ambitions for the future and have come a long way since our humble beginnings in 2010 starting with two beehives in the back of Gruff’s parents house.
Fast forward to today we are a full time team of 4 with hundreds of hives dotted around Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion producing award winning honey and beeswax products.
We are also a major importer and supplier of beekeeping equipment distributing products right across the UK, and the successful candidate will be an important part of the future of the business.
The role is based at our rural Carmarthenshire honey farm.
We’re looking for motivated and reliable Warehouse Operative to join our growing small team.
What You’ll Do:
- Pick, pack, and prepare products for dispatch, including creating shipping labels, packaging, and palletising orders according to customer specifications and delivery schedules.
- Palletise & Wrap orders
- Breaking up incoming pallets in timely fashion
- Receive, Inspect, unpack and store incoming goods in the correct parts of the warehouse, shop or buildings
- Conduct stock checks and organise inventory
- Keep orders and stock on the system up to date
- Allocate and label areas in the stock room for new and existing products
- Keeping the stock and packing rooms tidy and organised
- Collating stock for the shop floor & assisting with stock replenishment, keeping labels, shelf edge information in the shop up to date
- Be able to communicate efficiently, politely and directly via email, on the phone and in person with customers on deliveries and other order enquiries
- Maintain proper stock rotation (FIFO - First In, First Out).
- Monitor and control stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Load goods onto delivery vehicles, ensuring they are securely and safely transported.
- Assist customers with loading orders who visit the shop
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensuring the warehouses, shop and yard are kept clean and organised and safe, following strict hygiene protocols to prevent contamination.
- Regularly clean work areas, including storage units, shop shelving, shop stock, props and equipment.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to management immediately.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, and cleanliness
- Performing additional duties as and when required on a busy honey farm and beekeeping supplies store
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous warehouse experience and basic packing skills would be an advantage for this post but not essential.
- Awareness or understanding of beekeeping would be of an advantage but not essential
- Operate warehouse equipment (Forklift driving and driving a van is an advantage but not required)
- Ability to lift and move items up to 25kg and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Applicants should note that this role is physically demanding and involves frequent lifting of heavy boxes and lot of walking and being on your feet all day.
- Strong attention to detail to avoid errors on orders and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt
- Can use computer and printers confidently and learn how to use our shipping software
- Able to communicate in Welsh is desirable but not essential

Job Details:
- Permanent, Part Time - 3 days a week, preferably Monday to Wednesday, 9 AM – 4PM (30 min unpaid lunch break)
- Location: Gwenyn Gruffydd Ltd, Bryn Bach, Carmarthenshire SA32 8SE
- This is a physically demanding role, so you must be comfortable being on your feet all day and handling heavy stock.

- Pay rate: £12.21 per hour
- 28 days Annual Leave (inclusive of bank holidays)
- This is currently a part time role (3 days per week) however we hope to be able to offer this role as a full time role eventually if business growth allows. Overtime may be available during peak seasons.
