Professional German-made beeswax clarifying and melting equipment for candle makers, beekeepers and beeswax processors.
The Carl Fritz 35 Litre Beeswax Clarifying Tank is a professional, double-walled stainless steel wax melter designed for melting, clarifying and heat-treating beeswax.
Unlike a conventional single-walled wax melting pot, this specialist CFM tank uses a thermostatically controlled 3,000W electric heating system and a separate heat-transfer jacket to warm the wax indirectly.
With two dedicated drainage valves, the tank allows clean, clarified beeswax to be drawn off separately from the heavier sediment and impurities that settle at the bottom.
Whether you're preparing beeswax for premium candles, processing wax from your own apiaries or producing beeswax foundation, this is a serious piece of equipment designed for repeatable, controlled wax processing.
IMPORTANT – HEAT-TRANSFER FLUID REQUIRED
This is a double-walled, indirect-heating machine. The heating jacket must be filled with the correct heat-transfer medium before the heater is switched on.
Heat-transfer fluid is not included and must be purchased separately. Carl Fritz specifies approximately 19 litres for this 35L model.
Never operate the heating system without the required heat-transfer medium. Always follow the manufacturer's filling, operating and safety instructions.

What Makes a Wax Clarifying Tank Different from an Ordinary Wax Melter?
A conventional wax melter is primarily designed to melt solid beeswax.
The Carl Fritz Wax Clarifying Tank goes further by providing a controlled environment in which melted beeswax can be heated, allowed to separate and then drained through dedicated outlets.
As the wax settles, heavier impurities accumulate towards the bottom of the tank.
The upper outlet allows cleaner wax to be drawn off without deliberately disturbing the sediment layer, while the lower valve is used for draining the remaining dirty wax and residue.
This makes the tank particularly useful for producing clean beeswax intended for candle making and other applications where appearance and consistency matter.
Double-Walled Heating – Why Does It Matter?
The CFM clarifying tank features two stainless steel walls, with a separate jacket between them containing the heat-transfer medium.
The electric heater warms this medium, which transfers heat through the inner wall to the beeswax.
This arrangement provides indirect heating rather than placing a heating element directly in the wax.
The thermostatically adjustable heating system gives the operator control over the heating process, allowing different temperatures to be selected according to the intended use of the wax.
Please note: The thermostat setting is not a guarantee that the entire wax batch has reached the same temperature. Where a specific wax temperature or holding period is required, this should be verified using suitable independent temperature measurement.
Ideal for Beeswax Candle Making
Clean, well-prepared beeswax is an important starting point for producing quality candles.
Wax containing excessive sediment or debris can affect the appearance of finished candles and complicate pouring and processing.
Carl Fritz recommends temperatures of approximately 70–90°C for preparing beeswax for candle production.
The clarifying tank provides a practical way to melt and clarify batches of beeswax before transferring the cleaned wax into suitable candle-making equipment.
For businesses producing beeswax candles regularly, the ability to separate clarified wax from settled impurities is a particularly useful feature.
Beeswax Heat Treatment for Foundation Production
The CFM Wax Clarifying Tank is also designed for higher-temperature beeswax treatment.
Carl Fritz recommends approximately 130°C for a minimum of 45 minutes when carrying out its specified wax disinfection process for foundation production.
This is a specialist high-temperature procedure and should only be undertaken in accordance with the manufacturer's operating instructions, using the correct heat-transfer medium, suitable temperature monitoring and appropriate safety precautions.
Heating wax to these temperatures involves significant burn and fire risks. The process should not be confused with ordinary candle wax melting or routine clarification.
Two Separate Wax Drainage Valves
A practical feature of this Carl Fritz tank is its dual-outlet design.
Upper ¾-inch Ball Valve – Clean Wax Outlet
The upper tap is positioned above the bottom of the tank, allowing clarified wax to be drawn off while leaving heavier settled impurities below.
Lower ¾-inch Ball Valve – Sediment Drain
The lower valve is intended for draining dirty wax and accumulated sediment from the bottom of the vessel.
The manufacturer specifies that approximately four litres of volume lie below the upper outlet level.
This arrangement helps separate cleaner wax from the residue produced during clarification.
