Supporting colonies when pollen is limited

Pollen provides honeybees with protein and other nutrients required for brood rearing and the development of young bees.

During periods when natural pollen intake is poor, Candipolline Gold provides a convenient supplementary source of protein together with carbohydrates.

This makes it particularly useful during periods of limited forage, including autumn preparation and spring build-up.

In autumn, colonies are developing the bees that will form their winter population. Where natural pollen availability is limited, supplementary protein can help provide additional nutritional support alongside your normal autumn feeding programme.

What is Candipolline Gold?

Candipolline Gold is manufactured in Italy by Enolapi and combines beet sugar and sugar syrup with protein supplementation, including gamma-sterilised bee pollen.

The formulation also contains caseinate and albumin as additional protein sources. Enolapi recommends Candipolline Gold particularly for developing colonies and when pollen intake is poor.

Protein feed vs autumn syrup – what's the difference?

They're doing different jobs.

Syrup feeds such as Apiinvert are primarily used to provide carbohydrates and help colonies build adequate food stores.

Candipolline Gold combines carbohydrates with supplementary protein and pollen, making it particularly relevant where natural pollen intake is limited.

Candipolline Gold doesn't replace good natural pollen forage, and colonies bringing in plentiful, varied pollen may not require supplementary protein.

How to feed

Each 1kg pouch is ready to use.

Make an opening in the pouch and place it directly above the frames or over the feeder hole in the crown board, allowing the bees access to the feed.

Because the box contains individually packed pouches, you can distribute them between colonies as required rather than opening one large bulk pack.

Composition

Sugar (beet sucrose), sugar syrup, beekeeping by-products (pollen), caseinate, albumin and glycerol.

Additive: Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid/E300) – 400 IU/kg.
