Thomas Pre-Wired National Brood Frames – Pack of 10

Prepare your hives quickly with these Thomas pre-wired National Brood frames. Supplied fully assembled in a pack of 10, each wooden beehive frame is ready for an unwired beeswax foundation sheet to be electrically embedded directly onto the wires.

These National Brood Hoffman frames feature self-spacing side bars and are manufactured from spruce and linden wood. Their ready-assembled, pre-wired design removes the time-consuming work of building and wiring conventional flat-pack frames, making them an excellent choice for both hobby beekeepers and commercial apiaries.

Foundation Compatibility

These frames require unwired National Brood beeswax foundation made specifically for pre-wired frames. The wax sheet is intentionally slightly smaller than the internal frame area, leaving a small expansion gap around the sides and bottom. This is normal and allows the foundation to sit neatly on the wires.

Traditional wired foundation designed to slide into grooved British flat-pack frames is not required for this system.

How to Install the Wax Foundation

  1. Lay the pre-wired frame flat on a suitable heat-resistant work surface.
  2. Position the foundation sheet centrally on the wires and towards the top of the frame. A small gap around the sides and bottom is normal.
  3. Place the positive red probe against the contact nail on one side of the top bar.
  4. Place the negative probe against the nail on the opposite side to complete the circuit.
  5. The wires will gently warm, allowing the wax foundation to soften and bond to them.
  6. Remove the probes as soon as the foundation begins to adhere to the wires.

Important: Apply power only briefly. Heating the wires for too long may melt them completely through the wax foundation.

Reusable and Efficient

When the old brood comb is ready to be replaced, the wooden National Brood frame can be cleaned, rewired if necessary and fitted with a fresh foundation sheet. This makes pre-wired frames a practical, efficient choice for regular comb replacement and long-term apiary use.

Pack contents: 10 assembled, pre-wired National Brood Hoffman frames. Wax foundation and wax embedder transformer are included only when selected from the available bundle options.
