Polyhives is a newly devolped polystyrene hive made from high density polystyrene. Manufactured in Denmark specially for the British market.
Poly Hives are highly insulating, do not rot, have an improved interior climate which ensures a large honey harvest. With dove tails. Easy to assemble!

As easy to put together as Maisemore or Abello. Simple construction. External size is comparable the Abello. The Maisemore external dimensions are larger.
Like Abello, It comes with plastic guards for the frame to sit in which should help protect the polystyrene. Let’s hope it doesn’t hold condensation the same.
It doesn’t have much of a landing board and no entrance reducer, but the bees don’t seem to mind, and the entrance is to narrow for vermin.
The floor tray once in is hard to remove. This is not a game changer, just a gripe.
All in all for the money, it’s perfect. 12 months will tell is the bees feel the same.

My bees chewed through the Paynes polystyrene so I got this due to it being more solid material and used by a semi professional near me. Delivery great. Used all year and still good . Very light east to handle. I like it fitting exactly with the traditional nationals. I’m keeping the Paynes base as this has no landing for the bees and also I can’t draw out the varroa board underneath. Also it needs better frames guides. The plastic ones are too low to lever frames so I’m replacing with metal ones. Im pleased now I’ve sorted this combination. I hope these points are noted.
Nice nd Light and minutes to assemble. I'm not a fan of the plastic excluder but that aside its a great hive and no complaints from the Bees.
